Since Rollins and Dell were joined at the hip, how can Dell ride to the rescue?

Kevin Rollins, a former Bain & Co. consultant, finally paid the price today for Dell Inc. (NASDAQ:DELL)'s string of disappointing results. I doubt Michael Dell can fix what ails his eponymous company. The reason is that he has been working hand-in-hand with Rollins for years. During their sunnier days, Dell used to brag about how Rollins and Dell shared the CEO office.It's not as if Dell has been out giving away billions of dollars to AIDS patients in Africa. Since Rollins took over as CEO in July 2004, Dell's revenues and profits have risen but its stock has fallen 17%, it has missed quarterly revenue and profit targets and -- most painfully -- Dell has lost its PC market leadership to The Hewlett-Packard Company (NASDAQ:HPQ).
